Well, the USA is like that but with physical geography. There’s just so much that is marvellous that it’s only the extraordinary that attracts attention. Crater Lake, for example; I know I gasped with astonishment the first time I saw it, a proper ‘What the . . .’ moment. A few miles north, Mount St Helens from the east side; a jaw-dropping sight. Monument Valley. Meteor crater. Yellowstone. Death Valley. Hills and mountains beyond number, rivers, lakes and waterfalls the same. The USA is home to some astonishing landscapes.
And now my must-visit list has got a little longer. Next year, when hopefully life will be getting back to normal, I’ll be dusting off the plans for a postponed (damn you, Covid!) trip to Colorado and New Mexico and after that, well. So many places, so little time . . .

]]>I’ve been to Sleeping Bear Dunes several times and like visiting because it is very pretty and only a few hours from my home. To claim it is more beautiful than Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Glacier, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Olympic, Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Redwoods, Arches, Capitol Reef, Rocky Mountain, Big Bend, Smoky Mountains, etc. is absurd. I mean no slight to Sleeping Bear Dunes but be a little more realistic in your claims.
