On the topic of credit cards, Chase Sapphire is also one to consider. It does come with a reasonable annual fee (I believe $99) but it benefits two ways 1) double points on all travel related purchases 2) no overseas transaction fees. And it looks awesome – made from titanium or something cool like that!
I definitely agree on your recommendation to travel slow. People, myself included, always try to cram in everything (especially Americans as we get so few days off). But the stress levels definitely increase with the amount of places you try and visit. Choose a couple cities for a short trip or 1-2 countries for a longer sabbatical type trip and really immerse yourself. You’ll be so much happier during and will have a richer experience.
]]>My personal favourite is telling people to always leave extra room in their backpack/suitcase… You never know when you might have to pack in five minutes to make a train, or help carry something for a friend. Or… I guess… have enough room to buy new things, but that of course can be a double-edged sword. 😛
