Any place, including Prague, is only as touristy as you let it be. It’s your fault for not wondering off the beaten path. It’s like if you come to my home city and only visiting Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, London Eye, Oxford Street, Tower of London and so on, and then claiming it’s too touristy. There is a world of wonder to explore off the beaten path. In almost any place in the world the very best things are not normally the grand impressive things that everybody goes to see.
]]>I absolutely agree with you! Slow is best. I don’t see the point in rushing from thing to thing just to tick it off. The best things are off the beaten path. There is an entire city, history, culture, cuisine to explore. Just sitting in a park or enjoying a coffee or beer ( since i’ts Czechia ) watching the world go by is a wonderful thing. I’m looking to go and want at least 3 weeks in the country with probably 10 days of that spent in Prague.
]]>I never get this sort of sentiment. There are endless things to do and see. What you really mean is I ticked off a list of touristy things listed in guide books/web sites and now I am done with it.
My advice would be to go with wonder in your heart and eyes wide open. Dust your day with imagination. You are in another place, another culture full of 1000s or years of history. There is a whole cusine, culture, history and an entire city to explore.
My advice is step out of guides and the touristy things and be more open, my friend 🙂 My favourite things in any city are never the touristy main sites, although I do love them too, but my absolute favourite things is when I explore off the beaten path and the smaller wonders.
Here in London the best things are not the well known attractions, Houses of Parliament, Oxford Street, Big Ben, London Eye, Tower of London and so on. I think it’s true in any city.
]]>I personally think that some destinations are best enjoyed quickly (Prague is one of them) while others (e.g. Paris) are best enjoyed slowly because there is much more to see, do, absorb, etc. I reckon that if you stay longer than 7 days in Prague, you might find yourself utterly bored and questioning your sense of reasoning LOL. I’m all for slow travel but every destination is not meant to be explored that way and doing otherwise make actually take away from its richness because again, you’ll be bored after a while and feel like there isn’t much else to see. In turn, your opinion of the place might dip because you stayed too long. Long story short, you can enjoy pretty much anywhere quickly if you want but you might not enjoy everywhere on a slow pace but, to each his own 😀
